Home Sweet Homebirth (Video)

Midwives have existed since the beginning of humanity. Why, then, is it so difficult to find a midwife in America?  What events occured between the mid 1800's until the present day which nearly made midwifery extinct in America? And why are more families now looking into homebirth as a refuge from hospital care?
Home Sweet Homebirth provides the answers. Interviews with noted doctors, historians and midwives. Very interesting and informative video.

I Wish They Were All Like This
                                                    by   Sandi Blankenship

The  Mom was 20, smoked  1 1/2 packs of cigarettes a day, a few joints per week, and had a soda  pop and  potato  chip diet. She was  90 lbs. soaking wet on the first visit, afraid she was going to get  fat during the pregnancy.

Made an appointment for her for the very next  day to  come back when I could spend tons of time with her, and did some  serious  health/diet counseling with her, her spouse and her mom who all live together. Counseling  continued throughout the  pregnancy,  this little girl got off the cigs and the pot immediately and followed  my diet sheets to a tee. Gained 45 beautiful pounds during the   pregnancy . .  . positively glowed.

She called early this morning, with contractions  lasting a minute. Told her to   come  on in. They met me at the center at 130 a.m; she was 100%, 5cms.dilated. She was 42 weeks gestation. Got her to walk around for a bit.

At 1:50 a.m.her membranes ruptured with clear fluids.  The look on her face  was priceless She threw up, heart tones were good at 144.   And she grunted!   Sure enough, 9 cm with just a  teeny lip. Put her on her left side. She started pushing at 2:05 a.m., and had a gorgeous baby boy at 2:55 a.m.

Baby weighed 7lb. 8oz; placenta was gorgeous, no calcification,  fatty deposits, nothing!

I sure wish they were all like this.
