The Breastfeeding Rights:
with apologies to Miranda

1. You have the right to remain breastfeeding.
2. Any breastmilk you pump may be used if put it in the refrigerator.
3. If you are under the age of 18, any time you breastfeed as a juvenile, your juvenile offspring can mature you and make you an adult, so that soon you will be breastfeeding as an adult.
4. You have the right to talk to a La Leche League Leader or lactation consultant before giving up  breastfeeding, for answering any questions.
5. You have the right to breastfeed your baby immediately after birth, during your La Leche League meetings and while meeting your lactation consultant during the questioning.
6. If you cannot afford a lactation consultant, one will be appointed for you without cost, before or during breastfeeding, if you desire.
7. Do you understand these rights?

Suess for Nursing Mothers

Mothers milk is just the thing!

Would you nurse her at the park?
Would you nurse him in the dark?
Would you nurse him with a Boppy?
And when your boobs are feeling floppy?

I would nurse him in the park,
I would nurse her in the dark.
Id nurse with or without a Boppy.
Floppy boobs will never stop me.

Can you nurse with your seat belt on?
Can you nurse from dusk till dawn?
Though she may pinch me, bite me, pull,
I will nurse her till shes full!

Can you nurse and make some soup?
Can you nurse and feed the group?
It makes her healthy strong and smart,
Mommys milk is the best start!

Would you nurse him at the game?
Would  you nurse her in the rain?
In front of those who dare to complain?
I would nurse him at the game.
I would nurse her in the rain.

As for those who protest lactation,
I have a perfect explanation.
Mommy milk is tailor made
Its perfect food, you need no aid.

Some may scoff and some may wriggle,
Avert their eyes or even giggle.
To those who can be cruel and rude,
Remind them breasts the perfect food!

I would never scoff or giggle,
Roll my eyes or even wiggle!
I would not be so crass or crude,
I KNOW that this milks the perfect food!

We make the right amount we need,
The perfect temp for every feed.
Theres no compare to milk from breast-
The perfect food, above the rest.

Thos nursing smiles are oh so sweet,
Mommy milk is such a treat.
Human milk just cant be beat.

I will nurse, in any case,
On the street or in your face.
I will not let my baby cry,
Ill meet her needs, Ill always try.
Its not about whats good for you,
Its best for babies, through and through.

I will nurse her in my home,
I will nurse her when I roam.
Leave me be lads, leave me be maam.
I will nurse her, Mom I am. an inviting site devoted to childbirth, breastfeeding and the issues surrounding them.  Highlights include articles, a stories, a quiz to see how you really feel about breastfeeding, a fun test of your breastfeeding know-how, a free quarterly newsletter and much more.

Subject: Formula

I received multiple shipments of formula (I'm pretty sure it was from Mead Johnson) in the mail before and after I gave birth to my son. I had filled out a questionnaire that they had sent me at one point and though I had wrote that I was going to BREASTFEED ONLY, they continued to send the formula.

I was really angry about this and called them to complain.  They apologized about it but sent me another box.  I called a second time to complain and after that I didn't get any more. It's funny (well not really) that when I vented my annoyance to other people that this company deigned to send me their crap when I had made it clear I didn't want it, they didn't know what the big deal was.

All I can think is that these formula companies are run by a bunch of weasels - how dare they try to suade me from breastfeeding in their oh so NOT subtle ways? I'm insulted.

Anyway - I was at the Compleat Mother site and read the Banning the Promotion of   Formula and Catherine vs. the Post Office.
Thanks for listening....

Dear Health Minister Rock:

I would appreciate a reply to this correspondance.

Mead Johnson is sending formula tins to pregnant and lactating women, contrary to the World Health Organisation Code which Canada has endorsed.

What will you do to end this violation?

Reynaud's Syndrome

Reynaud's syndrome is a  circulatory disorder where extremities including nipples get numb due to lack of blood flow. It may flush red right after nursing, then white as the blood drains, thenpurplish, or any combination. Try warm cloths on the nipples for a few minutes after nursing and any time they hurt. There are prescription medications
that can help, if you can find a helpful doctor. If baby
is biting or gumming, it may make things worse, so
watch out for that special look baby gets before
biting, and intercept it.

Up to 20% of women have this condition.
