Acupuncture and Infertility

While acupuncture isnít traditionally used for infertility problems, in recent years women have discovered that it has

helped them not only conceive easier, but help them deliver the baby with far less pain and with fewer complications then they otherwise would have.

So, subsequently, many women who must turn to modern fertility treatments to conceive also use acupuncture treatments to ensure a healthy, happy pregnancy, delivery -- and child.

But it isnít just for women! Oh no, many men have also been turning to acupuncture to ensure that their sperm count is adequate, and their child is healthy. How does this work, exactly?

While weíre not exactly sure why this works, most professional acupuncturists will tell you that the acupuncture treatments will increase the blood flow to the reproductive organs (Including increasing ovarian function), allowing better performance and increased fertility.

Acupuncture has also been known to help women and men who have structural abnormalities achieve their dreams of having healthy children Ė dreams that they previously thought impossible. Acupuncture has helped many men and women live happier, and healthier.

If youíre considering acupuncture in conjunction with a fertility treatment, make sure you find the right acupuncturist, or you wonít have the optimal results. If you can, find a professional who has dealt with other clients who, like you, wish to achieve satisfaction and less pain with their pregnancy.

Many couples now use acupuncture as a complementary treatment to infertility. Not relying solely on conventional medicine's treatments for pregnancy, these couples additionally visit an acupuncturist in order to optimize their chances of pregnancy.

Used in this way, acupuncture seems especially effective. Some experts say that this ancient form of therapy helps because it aids in keeping women relaxed through what are very often stressful conventional fertility treatments. More importantly, studies indicate that acupuncture provides a definite increase in the rate of pregnancy in those women who use both the complementary method as well as in vitro fertilization.

Keep in mind that acupuncture is not a one-session fix. Some acupuncturists recommend that you prepare yourself for at least ten visits when receiving treatment for infertility. Some specialists also suggest that you add to this routine the supplementation of certain Chinese herbal medicine. Your acupuncturist may recommend a special blend of herbs tailored to your particular needs, or he may send you to a professional herbalist in order to get an effective blend created.

Whether you use this alternative treatment alone or in conjunction with in vitro fertilization, you'll want to ensure that you're completely at ease with the professional. You would expect nothing less from your conventional health care practitioner.
